U.S. election update…Here is an article by my colleague Soumitra Dutta and I published today on the London newspaper The Guardian’s website. It’s on the powerful role of Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, Twitter and other Web 2.0 platforms in Barack Obama’s electoral victory. I will publish another version of this article shortly as a blog post with links, but it’s available now on the Guardian website.

Andrea
Dear Mr.Fraser,
Hi there, my name is Andrea Sambar and I am currently a Second -Year student at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia. I am writing an essay in my Journalism - Mass Communication class as how media mediums such as YouTube or Facebook has affected the recent elections in the United States.
As part of my essay, I wanted to interview someone who has influenced the public using this method, which led to me thinking of you! As having written about this before, I wanted to just ask you some quick simple questions regarding your opinion, if you don’t mind. There would be no more than six simple questions. Any answers that you could give me would be most beneficial. If you are able to help me, feel free to email me back.
I hope that you could take some time out of your busy schedule to aid me.
I look forward to hearing your response.
Cheers,
Andrea

Osama would have had an edge in the youth vote with or without social media. People would have given alms and attended his worship services 100 years ago.
Cheers,
Mike
